There are lots of different areas of life which can create chronic stress. These include mental, emotional, physical, financial, social, and environmental stressors - to name just a few. Each of these different types of stress has it's own unique dynamic. So, each one requires a specific type of intervention in order to resolve the issues which are associated with it.
As a specialist in the mind-body connection, I help people to reduce stress-related health conditions. To do this effectively involves 3 key stages, and these are central to the mind-body health programme:
When you have any health condition which is impacted by chronic stress, then the first step is to change your response to the stressors which are involved. So we use coaching to identify the problem areas and to understand how these are playing out in your life. Then we create and integrate your own personal action plan to change how you respond to these stressors, and to actively lower your levels of stress or anxiety.
In addition, we can use bodywork and other therapies to reduce stress levels - like reflexology, aromatherapy, or mindfulness practices.
Many people attend because they want to reduce pain or symptoms. These can include a range of issues; muscular pain or tension, injuries like RSI or TMJ, inflammation, problems with immune function, insomnia, dizziness, or digestive problems. To reduce symptoms, we can use a range of holistic health tools including remedial/pain relief massage, acupressure, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle changes.
Integrating new mental, emotional, social, financial, or other health-related habits into your life is often easier said than done. There's a big difference between knowing something, and actually putting it into practice in your everyday life. This is where coaching can help - by identifying any blind spots which may be keeping you stuck, and helping you to move past them effectively. This is an important stage of improving and maintaining your ling-term wellbeing, because without it, you are simply reducing the symptoms, without changing the underlying causes which are impacting your wellbeing.
Using a combination of health coaching to change the issues which are creating long-term stress, together with bodywork and natural therapies to reduce symptoms, is my recommended way to create long-term improvements for your wellbeing. This combined approach is more comprehensive and holistic - exploring the multiple dimensions of stress-related illness. Here are some of the conditions that integrating regular mind-body therapies into your life can help you with...
I focus more on reducing the impact of stress on the body, rather than using any specific therapies. This is because for these conditions, it is not the specific type of therapy which is most important, it is using whatever is most helpful for you as a person. With this in mind, you can include any combination of these holistic tools in your consultations:
If you have any long-term health condition, then you will benefit from having regular monthly sessions to keep your symptoms well managed and under control. Or to make progress with creating significant changes in your life. The regularity that we meet up is an important part of achieving successful improvements.
Because I am providing this service to genuinely help people improve their wellbeing, and as an experienced and ethical practitioner, I work with people who can commit to a minimum of one regular consultation per month. I work on a subscription basis because I find it helpful for making your own health a priority, staying on track with sessions, and in the case of therapies, preventing physical symptoms from becoming severe. However, I do understand that some people don't like the idea of a regular subscription, so I also work with people in blocks of 3 sessions at a time.
